Signs of Suicide Prevention Program

Designed for middle and high school students, the Signs of Suicide (SOS) prevention program gives students tools to identify signs of depression and possible suicidal thoughts in themselves and their friends, and encourages ways to help. The course can be taught in a single day.

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that:

·         Introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental illness

·         Builds understanding of their impact, and

·         Provides an overview of common supports

This eight-hour course uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to offer intial help in a mental health crisis and connect persons to the appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care. The program also teaches the common risk factors and warning signs of specific types of illnesses like anxiety, depression, substance use, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and schizophrenia.

Trauma & Human Trafficking

This training will provide an overview of Human Trafficking and the impact that past trauma has on vulnerability to this type of abuse. Topics covered will include:

Introduction: Trafficking 101

  • Definitions/ laws
  • How to report

Awareness / empathy-building activity

The role of ACEs and toxic stress in creating vulnerability

  • A neuroscience/ brain perspective
  • Disruptive attachment and its impact on building a healthy relationship

  • Discussion on barriers to getting out of trafficking and accepting services

Screening for Trafficking

  • Screening tools for use in various settings
  • Prevention/Recognition strategies
